The Yamano IR compliant 8.6 ~ 154mm F2.5 AF zoom lens is well suited to the L3C216 Shadowed Overcast Starlight camera & greatly compliments the camera's IR detection range without any physical intervention required between day/night imaging (no manual 'cut-in' filters).

Since conventional CCTV lenses are designed for the visible spectrum, when used in the (near) infrared, this results in an out of focus and blurry image, even after re-adjusting the lens. The Yamano Optical IR corrected lens has extremely fine resolution in near infrared because there’s no offset of focus position from visible light to near infrared. It provides a clear image as there’s no drop in its recognition ability. The Yamano IR corrected optics require no manual readjustments between viable to near infrared imaging.

A lens’s transmission factor is important due of the large number of separate lenses put together to create the compound lens in zoom lenses. Yamano’s special coating technology is utilised to increase the transmission factor in broad light band from visible to near infrared.
